A total of 1105 athletes representing 49 Member Federations - along with 14 Authorised Neutral Athletes - have been entered for the Gavle 2019 European Athletics U23 Championships from 11-14 July.

The entry-list features 10 reigning champions from Bydgoszcz two years ago including Sweden’s Andreas Kramer who will be looking for back-to-back titles in the 800m. The full entry-list can be viewed here.

The nine other reigning champions on the entry-list are: Ewa Swoboda (100m), Finette Agyapong (200m), Anna Emilie Moller (3000m steeplechase), Yuliya Levchenko (high jump), Angelica Moser (pole vault) and Yanis David (long jump) on the women’s side and Nazim Babayev (triple jump), Konrad Bukowiecki (shot put) and Bence Halasz (hammer) on the women’s side.

Bukowiecki set one of the five championship records on home soil in Bydgoszcz in 2017, winning the shot put with 21.59m. The Pole has since improved his outdoor lifetime best to 21.97m which also surpassed David Storl’s European U23 outdoor record so Bukowiecki could bid farewell to this age-group category by revising his championship record.

Bukowiecki is one of a handful of medal winners from the Berlin 2018 European Athletics Championships who will be competing in Gavle next month.

Other standout entrants include European 100m hurdles champion and 2018 Rising Star Elvira Herman from Belarus, European indoor and outdoor champion Miltiadis Tentoglou from Greece in the long jump and European silver medallist Maksim Nedasekau in the high jump.

There will be live streaming of the European Athletics U23 Championships on the European Athletics website.
