The final entries for the European Throwing Cup in Samorin, Slovakia on 9-10 March have been published and can be found here or under Related Documents.
A total of 329 athletes (170 men and 159 women) from 38 countries will be competing across the two days including last year’s shot put winner Anita Marton from Hungary who arrives fresh from winning a bronze medal at the Glasgow 2019 European Athletics Indoor Championships.
Marton will face a line-up featuring Belarus’ Aliona Dubitskaya who finished one place behind Marton in Glasgow on Sunday.
The Germans will be fielding a strong team across the programme including reigning Olympic champion Christoph Harting in the discus. A clean sweep in the women’s discus isn’t inconceivable either with European medallists Nadine Muller and Shanice Craft competing along with Anna Ruh.
Olympic discus silver medallist Melina Robert-Michon will be looking to break up the German hegemony on her return to international competition after missing the 2018 campaign on maternity leave. Robert-Michon surpassed the 60-metre line in just her second competition since returning to action.
Other top names in action include Hungary’s Bence Halazs who is contesting both the U23 and senior hammer as well as the U23 discus while leading combined event specialists Alina Shukh from Ukraine and Geraldine Ruckstuhl from Switzerland will compete in the U23 division of the javelin.
