Distance runners Arne Gabius of Germany and Jo Pavey have been voted European Athletes of the Month for October.
Voting for European Athlete of the Month took place through our European Athletics Twitter and Facebook pages over the past week. Athletes with the most combined Twitter 'retweets' and Facebook 'likes' were crowned the winners.
Arne Gabius took the men's award with over 1,600 Facebook likes and 50 retweets on Twitter, having run the fastest marathon by a European runner this year when he clocked a German record of 2:08:33 during the Frankfurt Marathon.
With over 400 combined likes and retweets, Pavey was the winner on the women's side. She finished second in the Great South Run in Portsmouth, where she had a time of 52:44 over 10 miles, a world over-40 best.
