Reigning and past European champions Julian Weber, Malaika Mihambo and Gesa-Felicitas Krause are all due to compete at the International Pfingstsportfest Rehlingen, a World Athletics Continental Tour Silver meeting, on Sunday 19 May.

The International Pfingstsportfest Rehlingen will be streamed live on the European Athletics YouTube channel. More live streaming information for the 2024 World Athletics Continental Tour Silver and Bronze events in Europe will be announced in early May.

Reigning European javelin champion on the road to Rome

Julian Weber will defend his European javelin title at the Roma 2024 European Athletics Championships from 7-12 June and the reigning champion will be looking to replicate his performance from last year’s meeting on the road to Rome this summer. Weber won at last year’s meeting with a season’s best of 88.37m, the fourth longest throw of his career.

By contrast, Gesa Felicitas Krause missed out on a chance to win a third European 3000m steeplechase title in Munich 2022 due to illness but the two-time European champion is back on the comeback trail. However, Krause will be looking to sharpen up in the 1500m rather than contest her specialist event in Rehlingen.

Similarly, reigning Olympic long jump champion and 2018 European champion Malaika Mihambo will lace up her spikes in the 100m instead.

Elsewhere, Robert Farken is also confirmed for the men’s 1500m. Farken won at this meeting last year in a lifetime best and meeting record of 3:32.10.
