Home

Denmark will launch a new running venture tomorrow as the European Athletics Cross Country season moves into full swing.

Middelfart will stage the European Halloween Cross, the first of five rounds of a national cross series, which runs between now and March.

The event on Saturday is a European Athletics Cross Country Permit meeting, held in the setting of Faeno Park.

There will be prize money for the top six in the men’s and women’s elite races, with 1000 euros on offer to each of the winners.

The elite men’s race will be over 9km and the women’s over 6km on a superb festival of running for all ages.

The programme starts at 10am with a 2km event for children up to the age of seven, with the junior girls (4.5km) and elite women races at 11.30am and the junior boys (6km) and elite men at 12.15pm.

This brand new cross-country series has been arranged by the Danish Athletic Federation and DGI (Danish Gymnastics and Sports Associations), with the next event in Region Hovedstaden on 26 November, followed by Herlufsholm (28 January) and rounds four and five in Fredericia over the weekend of 4-5 March.
