Ireland's Sarah Healy repeated the achievements of Switzerland's Delia Sclabas at the inaugural championships in Tbilisi two years ago by winning both the 1500m and 3000m titles.
Healy won both titles and she also broke both of Sclabas' championship records for good measure. Unlike Sclabas, Healy also had a 1500m heat to navigate but the 17-year-old didn't display any visible signs of fatigue in the final, covering the last lap in 64.31 to win in 4:18.71.
'I already got a few medals and when I woke up today i knew it that I want to have another one,' said Healy.

Two days after winning the 3000m title in a championship record, the Irishwoman does the same to win the 1500m title in Gyor.

Another prospective middle distance star in the making is 16-year-old Max Burgin. The Brit made waves earlier this year when he clocked 1:47.50 when he was still 15 but he improved on that time in the 800m final, clocking a championship record of 1:47.36 with an irresistible gun-to-tape display.
'It was the safest thing for me [to front run the race],' said Burgin on his tactics. 'I just ran my absolute hardest. I left everything on the track and fortunately that was enough. I think I saw the splits at 500m but that’s about all I can remember. I wanted to go through in around 52 or 53 seconds, that was going to be perfect for me.'

Germany won two gold medals on the third day of competition and their evening begin in excellent fashion with two more titles in close succession. Aided by a 2.7 m/s tailwind, Nick Schmahl won the long jump title with his second round jump of 7.60m by a sizeable margin from Italy's European U18 leader Davide Favro (7.29m).
This order was repeated in the 400m hurdles with Gisele Wender holding off European U18 leader Emma Silvestri, 58.88 to 59.04. The top five finishers all set lifetime bests.
The men's 400m hurdles resulted in a dead heat and a shared gold medal between Hungary's Daniel Huller and France's Martin Fraysse in 50.63. There was also a gold medal in the 2000m steeplechase for France with Baptiste Guyon winning the title in 5:43.92 while Italy also won both titles in the medley relay.
