Türkiye is sending seven runners to the European Cup 10,000m in Bilbao, Spain, on Sunday.

The men's team includes Bekir Karayel, Erkan Kus and 2009 European Athletics U23 Championships 10,000m gold medallist Mert Girmalegese as well as their national 3000m and 5000m record holder Polat Kemboi, who will be making his debut over 25 laps of the track.

Girmalegese holds the Turkish 10,000m record with 27.29:33, set at the 2008 Olympic Games, but struggled with injuries last year.

The Turkish women's trio will be Ozlem Kaya, Mehtap Sizmaz and 2009 SPAR European Cross country Championships under 23 gold medallist Sultan Haydar.

Haydar will also be making her debut over the distance on the track and there is considerable interest in what she can do after setting a Turkish marathon record of 2:25.07 in the Paris Marathon last month.
