  • Media accreditation for Zurich 2014 European Athletics Championships now open

With the 2014 European Athletics Championships (12-17 August, Zurich, Switzerland) just under six months away, European Athletics is launching the media accreditation procedure for written press and photographers.

The deadline for written press and photographer applications with official media hotel accommodation is 30 April 2014. The overall deadline for media accreditation is 30 June 2014.

In consultation with the Local Organising Committee in Zurich and taking into account media attendance figures at previous European Athletics Championships, European Athletics has set the country quotas for written press and photographers.

Each European Athletics Member Federation has been informed of their country quota for written press and photographers, and has been requested to distribute the website link for the media accreditation process to those they have selected for their quota.

Thus, in order to request the link for the online media accreditation procedure for the Zurich 2014 European Athletics Championships, European media (written press and photographers) should contact the national athletics federation in their country.

An important point to note is that due to the unique set-up of the Letzigrund Stadium in Zurich, the quota for photographers is strictly limited compared to previous European Athletics Championships.

Media from outside Europe requesting accreditation should contact European Athletics Communication Manager James Mulligan at [email protected].

International news agencies (AFP, AP, Reuters, Getty Images) will be contacted by European Athletics and the Local Organising Committee in due course.

The quotas referred to in this communication are for written press and photographers only.

Broadcast non-rights holders must apply for media accreditation by registering at the following link (http://arena-bo.european-athletics.org/EBS/Arena.Domain.Registration.Web/Views/Registration/RegistrationForm.aspx?p1=MjA%3d) and downloading and completing the attached form at the link.

Broadcast rights holders (TV and Radio), meanwhile, will receive a unique username and password which they can use to access the media accreditation system

When provided with a link for the media accreditation process, journalists will also be sent further information by their national athletics federation, including a user manual for the accreditation process and information on hotels. Those requiring specialist telecommunications during the event will be able to complete a telecommunications form, which includes full details of the services available and the rate card, within the media accreditation system.
