An online Book of Remembrance has been created in response to the many tributes and recollections that have been sent to the European Athletics office, as well as the many messages that have been posted on social media, upon the death of its President Svein Arne Hansen on Saturday 20 June.
Messages of condolences have been sent from both Europe and around the world, and have come from leading figures within athletics as well as from many other sports, reflecting just how loved and respected Svein Arne Hansen was during his lifetime, which was mainly dedicated to making athletics a better sport for everyone involved.

In addition to the formal obituary detailing Svein Arne’s career, a moving personal reflection has been provided by Bill Glad, who worked alongside Svein Arne for five years as the Head of the President’s Cabinet, ever since his election to the highest position in continental athletics administration in 2015.
