  • Men's European Athlete of the Year finalists announced

From an initial list of 10 athletes who were all nominated based solely on their performances this season, we can now reveal the men's European Athlete of the Year finalists.

The winner will be crowned and presented with their trophy at the Golden Tracks award ceremony in Tallinn, Estonia on Saturday 26 October. Last year's winner was France's Kevin Mayer, the world indoor heptathlon champion and world decathlon record-holder.

The Golden Tracks voting procedure takes into account fan voting across social media, media voting, European Athletics Member Federations voting as well as the expert European Athletics Panel vote. Each component accounts for 25 percent of the voting process.

There will be live streaming of the Golden Tracks award ceremony with more details to follow later this week.

Fajdek suffered a handful of defeats to teammate Wojciech Nowicki during the course of the season but the Pole produced his best form when it counted at the World Championships by winning his fourth successive title in the hammer.
