The Amsterdam 2016 European Athletics Championships now has its own official song. The track is produced by OIJ, an upcoming artist from Amsterdam and is called ‘Believe’.

The European 200m champion from Helsinki 2012, Churandy Martina was the first one to listen to the song: “It’s great, I will definitely listen to it while I train. The title suits the track perfectly: it gives you a boost and will help me to perform at my best.”

The track is about believing in yourself, “I tried to create an atmosphere which suits the athletes and brings them confidence,” says OIJ. “Hopefully they will find extra inspiration and motivation in this song. And of course, I also hope the song will contribute to the experience of all those tens of thousands of athletics fans.”

Event Ambassador and former Olympic champion Ellen van Langen is excited as well: “The song brings energy and happiness and it makes you want to dance. In other words, it is a tune that fits an international event like the European Championships.”

About OIJ
Singer-songwriter and producer OIJ is regarded as a rising talent with a remarkable sound, described by OIJ himself as cinematic electropop. He made his debut in June 2015 when he released ‘Blinded’. The song made it all the way up to 8th on the world wide Spotify Viral Chart. A month later OIJ was named 3FM Serious Talent by 3FM, a respected Dutch radio station.
