chances in Berlin.
The 400m Hurdles bronze medallist at the IAAF World Championships in Osaka, Marek Plawgo of Poland, remains confident of his chances at the Berlin World Championships in August.

The 28-year-old underwent an elbow surgery last month in Poznan last month and now plans rehabilitation in the next few weeks.

The 400m gold medal winner from the 2002 European Athletics Indoor Championships said that his preparation for the IAAF World Championships in Berlin will not be affected by the rehabilitation.

Plwago had initially feared a three-month break but experts feel that he should be back to full training schedule within a month.

Plawgo plans to start his campaign at the IX European Athletics Festival in Bydgoszcz on June 10.

Over the years Plawgo has had a pattern of competing at very few events in the run up to the main Championships of the year, and that could be the case in 2009 as well.

For example before European Championships 2006 in Goteborg, where he won silver, he competed only at the national championships.
