Considering the development of the political situation in Ukraine, European Athletics will host both the European Cup Combined Events First and Second Leagues in Madeira, Portugal.
The competition, previously to be held in Donetsk, will take place over two days on 5-6 July 2014.
Host nation Portugal will face Italy, Czech Republic, Sweden, Finland, Spain, Norway and Ukraine during the two-day event, where the top two finishing teams will earn a promotion to the following year's Super League.
Four athletes are allowed to compete in the men’s decathlon and women’s heptathlon.
The scores of each athlete from the same country will be added together to create a total score, with the lowest men and women’s score being deducted from the total.
Medals will also be awarded in the individual competition.
In 2013, it was a Dutch double with Eelco Sintnicolaas claiming victory in the decathlon and Nadine Broersen in the heptathlon.
