  • Voting is open for European Athlete of the Month: June 2018

The European Athlete of the Month voting for June is underway across our Twitter and Facebook pages.

The voting closes at 12:00 CET on Saturday 7 July. You can cast your vote on Twitter by retweeting the graphic of the athlete for whom you wish to vote for or by liking or sharing the corresponding graphic on Facebook. You can also vote for more than one athlete.

Please note that only likes and retweets cast on the original image will be counted. Likes and retweets cast on any quoted or shared image will not be counted.

The votes across Twitter and Facebook are combined in order to decide who will be named male and female European Athlete of the Month.

Five male and five female athletes are nominated purely based on their performances in the previous month. However, no athlete who has served a two-year doping ban can be nominated for the award.

The European Athlete of the Month initiative was launched in January 2007 and is designed to recognise outstanding performances set by European athletes.

Last month's winners were Norway's Karsten Warholm and Israel's Lonah Chemtai Salpeter. Warholm clocked a European U23 record of 47.82 in the Rome Diamond League on his season's debut in the 400m hurdles and Chemtai Salpeter won the European 10,000m Cup in London in a world-leading mark of 31:33.03.
