After four days of voting across European Athletics’ social media accounts, Norway’s Karsten Warholm and Israel’s Lonah Chemtai Salpeter have been voted Athletes of the Month for May.
Warholm tallied 3269 votes combined across the three platforms to finish ahead of fellow Scandinavian nominees Armand Duplantis (3050 votes) and Daniel Stahl (2080 votes).
Warholm began his outdoor campaign in excellent form, winning the 400m hurdles on a cold evening at the Stockholm Diamond League on 30 May in 47.85 - the fastest time by a European athlete by more than one second in 2019.

Chemtai Salpeter, who won the European 10,000m title last summer, further showed her prowess on the roads by winning the Prague Marathon in a course record of 2:19:46 to move to third on the European all-time list.
