Karsten Warholm delighted his home fans by racing three times in the space of 24 hours at the Norwegian Championships in Hamar which began with another vintage display in the 400m hurdles.

In what was essentially a time trial, Warholm raced once again in the manner which has made him so popular, speeding to a 47.43 clocking in the 400m hurdles on Friday evening - the third fastest time of his career behind his European records of 47.33 and 47.12 from earlier this season.

Warholm won the title by almost three-and-a-half seconds from 18-year-old Andreas Haara Bakketun who set a national U20 record of 50.97 to finish a distant second to the reigning world and European champion who has three of the six fastest times in the event this year.

After the race, Warholm said on his Instagram page this was the first time he ran a 13-stride pattern for each of the 10 hurdles.

Just over an hour after winning the 400m hurdles, Warholm eased through his 400m heat in 47.93 before winning the final on Saturday in 45.54 by more than two seconds. Warholm will have another run on the flat at next weekend’s European Athletics Team Championships First League in Sandnes where he has been entered in the 400m and 4x400m relay.

Jakob Ingebrigtsen produced a solo display to win the 1500m title in a championship record of 3:36.33 one day after his older brother Henrik won the 5000m title in 13:50.77. World bronze medallist Filip will be looking to make it a hat-trick for Team Ingebrigtsen after qualifying for the 800m final today.

European bronze medallist Karoline Bjerkeli Grovdal produced a gun-to-tape win in the 3000m steeplechase in 9:24.53 and Elvind Henriksen won the hammer with 76.86m.
