  • World record! 6.22m for Duplantis in Clermont-Ferrand

The incredible Armand Duplantis added one centimetre to his world record with a 6.22m clearance at the All-Star Perche in Clermont-Ferrand, a World Athletics Indoor Tour Silver meeting, on Saturday (25) evening.

After knocking the bar off twice at 6.22m, Duplantis - in his last indoor competition of the season and with his last competitive vault of the indoor season - soared over the world record height on his third attempt.

The first to congratulate Duplantis was his predecessor as world record-holder Renaud Lavillenie, the long-time meeting organiser of the All-Star Perche who sprinted onto the pole vault mat to embrace the man who is taking the world record into uncharted territory.

This was the sixth world record of his career and Duplantis has now achieved a total of 60 six metre-plus clearances in his career so far.

Duplantis rounds off his indoor season with four victories and four 6.00m-plus competitions: 6.10m in Uppsala, 6.06m in Dusseldorf, 6.01m in Lievin and 6.22m in Clermont-Ferrand.
