Atletica Vicentina Club won the men’s league at the ECCC Track & Field U20 Group B in Leiria, Portugal with 117 points ahead of Swiss-based COA Valais Romand while AD Mass Ljubljana prevailed in the women’s division with 87.5 points ahead of another Swiss team, BTV Aarau Athletics.

On the men’s side, Atletica Vicentina Club were especially strong in the field events despite star performer Andrea Marin, who has cleared 5.26m in the pole vault this season, no-heighting at a would-be winning height of 4.60m.

But elsewhere on the programme, the Italian-based club won five field events with Catalin Bodean winning both the hammer (55.36m) and the shot put (15.08m). There were also wins for Nicola Pozza in the triple jump (13.72m), Riccardo Miglietta in the long jump (6.98m) and for Manuel Lando in the high jump (1.97m).

Another excellent performer for Atletica Vicentina Club was Stefano Quarshie who won the 200m in 22.39 and finished second in the 4x100m relay. Atletica Vicentina Club also finished second in the 4x400m relay to seal the overall title as well as promotion into Group A.

AD Mass Ljubljana enjoyed a brace of victories on both the track and the field. Klara Lukan contributed handsomely to the overall total with victories in both the 800m (2:11.66) and the 1500m (4:32.35) while Vladyslava Tukhay won the 400m in 56.18 before finishing first in the 4x100m relay and second in the 4x400m relay.
