The German Athletics Association (DLV) has named a 22-strong team for the 2024 European Throwing Cup in Leiria, Portugal on 9-10 March.

It includes two 90 metre javelin throwers in German record holder Johannes Vetter and 19-year-old Max Dehning, who caused a sensation around the world at the German Winter Throwing Championships in Halle last weekend when he threw a European U23 record of 90.20m.

His feat made him the first teenager ever to throw over the magical 90-metre mark.

At last year’s event, also held in Leiria, Shanice Craft won the women’s discus and Steven Richter won the men’s U23 discus. Both will be back to try and defend their titles.
