Great Britain have named a solid team with proven European Throwing Cup pedigree for this year’s event in Leiria, Portugal on 9-10 March 2024.
Straight from competing at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow, Scott Lincoln will line up in the men’s shot put. He won bronze at the 2021 event in Split, Croatia.
Serena Vincent won the U23 women’s shot last year in Leiria, which she underscored in the summer with a fine silver at the European Athletics U23 Championships in Espoo, Finland.
She steps into the senior ranks this year, where she will be joined by teammate Amelia Campbell, who is also competing in Glasgow.
An important event
Team leader Ryan Spencer-Jones said, “This is an important event for our throwers, which provides significant experience on the international stage.
“We have seen some strong results at the event in recent times, and we are pleased to be taking a team with experienced members as well as those continuing their development in the sport. I look forward to seeing how they all perform in Portugal.”
Both days of the European Throwing Cup will be streamed live through the European Athletics YouTube channel and will be accompanied by live results on the European Athletics website.
