Gjert Ingebrigtsen has said the Ingebrigtsen brothers will all compete indoors next season which culminated with the Glasgow 2019 European Athletics Indoor Championships from 1-3 March.

Henrik and Filip Ingebrigtsen both competed at the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade last March. Filip didn’t make it through the 1500m heats but Henrik won silver in the 3000m, Norway’s only medal of the championships.

Henrik and Filip look set to be joined in Glasgow by younger brother Jakob, one of the stars of the European Championships where he won both the 1500m and 5000m titles.

Jakob, who was crowned joint men’s Rising Star at the Golden Tracks on Friday and is also targeting the U20 race at the SPAR European Cross Country Championships, missed out on qualifying for the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Birmingham but Glasgow is set to mark his major championships debut indoors.

'It's a very long time until the World Championships so we have to arrange competitions for them, that's what drives the boys every day. Looking forward to competitions is a huge motivation for them,' their father and coach Gjert told NRK in a recent interview.

Their schedules haven’t been finalised but Gjert has suggested Jakob and Henrik could contest both the 1500m and 3000m in Glasgow which would mean four races in the space of three days for the youngest and oldest of the trio.

Henrik contested both events at the 2015 European Indoor Championships in Prague, winning bronze in the 3000m and finishing sixth in the 1500m final.

Jakob is also no stranger to doubling - or even trebling up - in major events. He memorably contested three events at the 2017 European Athletics U20 Championships in Grosseto and doubled up at both the 2018 World U20 Championships in Tampere and the European Championships in Berlin.

Poland’s Marcin Lewandowski won the 1500m title at the 2017 European Indoor Championships while Spain’s Adel Mechaal outsprinted Henrik Ingebrigtsen for the 3000m title.
