These are exciting times for Swiss track and field.
It is now ‘next month’ that the European Athletics Championships take place in Zurich and on Thursday evening, Lausanne stages the IAAF Diamond League.
And is there that eight of their stars will be in the main competition including their sprinters who are having an outstanding season.
They are led by Mujinga Kambunji, who ran the national 100m record of 11.33 in June in Geneva and is one of 13 names added this week to the team for the European Athletics Championships themselves.
She will face American Tori Bowie, who leads the Diamond Race, and Jamaican Veronica Campbell-Brown on Wednesday evening in one of the showpiece events in Lausanne as she builds towards Zurich where she will look to make a big impression in front of her own crowd.
Sprinters came to the fore in the rest of the team that was selected with Kambunji, who is also running the 200m, joined in that event by Joelle Golay.
In the men’s 100m, Pascal Mancini, Amaru Schenkel and Alex Wilson - who is also in the 200m - will lead the Swiss challenge.
Joel Burgunder is in the 200m, Tobias Furer in the 110m hurdles with Valentine Arrieta, Petra Fontanive and Robine Schurmann in the 400m hurdles.
The last place in women's marathon team has been given to Ursula Spielmann-Jeitziner, Laura Polli is in the 20km walk with Astrid Leutert in the 3000m steeplechase.
The 200m in Lausanne will be fascinating, too, as Frenchman Christophe Lemaitre will return after missing out on the European Athletics Team Championships in Braunschweig. He will have a tough night against Jamaican Yohan Blake.
Ukrainian Bohdan Bondarenko will once more be among the stars of the show with the World high jump record of 2.45m under threat every time he competes.
The last Diamond League meeting in New York saw Bondarenko equal the European record of 2.42m and in Lausanne last year, he won with 2.41m.
