The 53rd edition of the European Champion Clubs Cup Cross Country will be held in Kastamonu, Türkiye, on Sunday 7 February 2016.
The events take place over a single day of competition, with junior and senior races for both men and women.
Only clubs recognised as National Champions of the preceding year in each category are eligible to take part in the event.
All clubs must present at least four runners in each category with a maximum of six starting in the race. The team scores shall be determined by the aggregate finishing positions achieved by its four best placed athletes.
Many European, world and Olympic champions have competed in this event and it is sure to bring the best out of the current top European athletes again this year.
Last year, Othmane El Goumri running for Ales Cevennes Athlétisme, of France, won the men’s senior race as the local Spanish Guadalajara club brought joy to the home crowd by winning the team event.
The Spanish club's scorers of Mohamed Marhum, 4th in 31:38, Daniel Mateo, eighth in 31:46, Ricardo Serrano, 14th in 32:04, and Jaouad Boualame, 25th in 32:29, proved too strong for the rest.
On the women’s side it was Türkiye’s Uskudar Belediye club who took the team title led by Irene Cheptai and Ozlem Jaya who finished first and second.
In the under-20 boy’s, Türkiye triumphed again with Kocaeli Darica successfully defending their title as Ramazan Karagoz enjoyed individual glory too ahead of Turkish rival Onur Aras running for Fenerbahce Sport Club.
Although Fenerbahce did bring back a trophy too in the girls event, making it a hat trick of titles for Turkish clubs as Sumeyye Erol who won the 4km race for Bursa Buyuksehir Belediye.
