It is four years ago that Jenny Meadows had a beaming smile across her face and a gold medal around her neck as she celebrated victory in the 800m at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Paris.

Now this weekend in Sheffield she will aim to take a big step towards repeating that success.

Meadows heads to the Great Britain trials for the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Prague in three weeks as the fastest woman in the world this year.

And if she triumphs in Sheffield, it will be the eighth national title of her career.

Meadows is 33 and and after a period where her career was rocked by injury, she is now back running brilliantly as she has proved in these past few weeks.

She leads the world rankings with 1:59.21 from Vienna on 31 January before four days later running 1:59.85 in Torun. No other woman has broken two minutes this season, which puts Meadows bang in the frame for a medal in the 02 Arena at the championships between 6-8 March.

Good times still remain, and Prague should be another thrilling time for her.
