European Athletics has awarded the 2014 European Athletics Team Championships 2nd League to the Latvian capital city of Riga.
The European Athletics Executive Board approved the decision during its meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland, on 17 September 2013.
The Second League will be held simultaneously with the European Athletics Team Championships Super League, First and Third League on 21-22 June 2014.
Host nation Latvia will face Switzerland, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Denmark, Austria and the Slovak Republic during the two-day event, where the top two finishing teams will earn a promotion to the following year's First League.
The European Athletics Team Championships has grown in popularity since it began in 2009, introducing a number of ground breaking initiatives including a revamp of traditional track and field regulations, and men and women competing as one team.
Team promotion and relegation through a European 'league table' system makes the weekend even more exciting.
