With the support of our European Athletics Member Federations, over 75 road races have now been registered and certified on the European Athletics Running for All platform.
The European Athletics Safety and Quality Standards for road races act as an assurance for road runners throughout Europe. They distinguish between races that respect the standards and those that haven’t sought certification or assessment. They form the foundation of Running for All, a strong recognisable brand for running activities throughout Europe.
“European Athletics continues to circulate and explain the Running for All Quality and Safety Standards to our Member Federations and race organisers and we have been encouraged by their response,' said European Athletics Vice President Jean Gracia.
'We recently enjoyed a successful meeting with Paco Borao and Hugh Jones of the Association of International Marathons and Road Races (AIMS) and we look forward to collaborating in the future with the objective of promoting road running across Europe. We are confident more and more road races will continue to register for certification.”
Races listed as '1 Star' fulfill guaranteed minimum requirements of safety and security for all participants. '3 Star' races offer a good level of safety and include a satisfactory level of services to a larger number of runners, while '5 Star' races offer a high quality experience and a comprehensive range of services.
