Speaking from the Tbilisi 2016 European Athletics Youth Championships, European Athletics President Svein Arne Hansen has given his reaction to the terrible events in Nice, France, on Thursday night.
“European Athletics offers its deepest sympathies and solidarity to the people of France following the tragic attacks on Thursday night in Nice.
“The European Athletics family is shocked and saddened by the tragedy that has occurred. Innocent people have suffered on an appalling scale. We present our sympathies to the family and friends of the victims of the attacks. The entire athletics community stands by you in this difficult hour.
“As a mark of solidarity, a moment of silence will be observed at the ongoing European Athletics Youth Championships in Tbilisi today by the 46 countries from across the continent taking part.
“The flag of European Athletics will be at half-mast for the remainder of the Championships.”
