European Athletics has awarded the 2014 European Athletics Team Championships 1st League to the Estonian capital city of Tallinn.

The European Athletics Executive Board approved the decision during its meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland on 17 September 2013.

The First League will be held simultaneously with the European Athletics Team Championships Super League, Second and Third League on 21-22 June 2014.

Host nation Estonia will face Belarus, Greece, Norway, Romania, Portugal, Finland, Ireland, Belgium, Hungary, Slovenia and Lithuania during the two-day event, where the top three finishing teams will earn a promotion to the following year's Super League.

The European Athletics Team Championships has grown in popularity since it began in 2009, introducing a number of ground breaking initiatives including a revamp of traditional track and field regulations, and men and women competing as one team.

Team promotion and relegation through a European 'league table' system makes the weekend even more exciting.
