On International Women’s Day, the European Athletics Future Leaders community have released 'Women in Athletics', episode 3 of the podcast series Rise and Lead.
This new series, presented by the Future Leaders, takes on themes in the sport that will be explored at the upcoming European Athletics Future Leaders Forum, which will next take place at the Roma 2024 European Athletics Championships in June.
The Forum brings together motivated young adults, who are involved in sports and looking to evolve it further. This episode features three-times Irish 100m hurdles champion Lilly-Ann O'Hora and Sweden’s Freja Avebäck.
Gender leadership
Lilly is a driving force for women's sports empowerment and gender leadership. From leading the charge at Women in Sport for Athletics Ireland to now making waves globally as a events consultant, Lilly's passion for uplifting organisations knows no bounds.
Freja is a competitive sprinter who is not just into athletics, she's practically shaping its future. From being a key part of the European Athletics Youth Advisory Group to serving on the board of the Swedish Athletics Federation, to managing the facilitating team for the Future Leaders Forum, she's all about empowering the next generation of leaders.
When she´s not at the track working towards her goals in athletics, or working her full time job, you'll find her surrounded by her gorgeous family of Shetland ponies at Furunäs Stud.
