Representatives from European Athletics visited Banska Bystrica for a site visit and coordination meetings ahead of the European Athletics U18 Championships from 18-21 July and with four months to go, everything is on track for a memorable and outstanding fourth edition of the championships.
"We went through all the spaces for the event including the competition stadium, but also the warm-up track and the training facility in the UMB (Univerzita Mateja Bela) campus," said European Athletics Project Leader Daniel Pereira.

"In addition, of course, we visited individual accommodation facilities and all other official parts of the grounds. Together we are putting together a dazzling event with a really high level."
1100 athletes
The coordination meeting included discussions by expert groups focused on various areas and components of organisational activity in addition to the key competition such as refereeing, volunteering, logistics, health and anti-doping, security, marketing and media.
According to preliminary entries, just over 1100 athletes will compete in Banska Bystrica, the second most important outdoor championships on the European Athletics calendar this summer.
