Hosts and reigning two-time champions Poland have named a full-strength team for the European Athletics Team Championships 1st Division in Silesia.
All three divisions of the European Athletics Team Championships are part of the third European Games in Krakow-Malopolska with the 1st Division to take place in the Slaski Stadium in Silesia from 23-25 June.
The Poles won their second successive team trophy in the very same stadium two years ago and their squad features many of the individual winners from that team including Pia Skrzyszowska in the 100m hurdles and Natalia Kaczmarek in the 400m.
"Athletics is an individual sport, but sometimes we have to compete as a team. Such a start is always special. For me, it's an experience similar to what happens when we run a relay race. Then you are responsible not only for your start, but also for other team members. We are one team and we have a common goal, which is to triumph," said Kaczmarek.
Skrzyszowska won a never-been-done-before 100/100m hurdles double two years ago but she will be focusing solely on the 100m hurdles next week. This makes space for European indoor silver medallist Ewa Swoboda to return to the team in the 100m.
Other star names in the team - all of whom are capable of challenging for victories in their respective events - include Anna Kielbasinska (200m), Piotr Lisek (pole vault), Michal Haratyk (shot put) and Olympic champion Wojciech Nowicki (hammer).
Multiple major medallist in the combined events Adrianna Sulek has also received a call-up to compete in the high jump.
